AstroImager is a new image capture application from CloudMakers for use on Mac OSX. The best bit is, it’s fully compatible with nearly all Atik Cameras – click here for more information!
AstroImager offers you the possibility to preview your capture or to save the image to your disk as a image file. Note that when you preview the capture, you get to zoom in or out the image, to automatically adjust the black and white point settings, to create sub frames, and more.

Anyway, I am not using anything in between the Moonlite controller and the computer, just a USB cord. When I try to connect using INDI Control Panel, the port selected is the default, /dev/ttyUSB0. The error message when trying to connect is: "Moonlite: failed to connect to port /dev/ttyUSB0. Error: Port failure:No such file or directory. Check if device is connected to this port."
– USB3.0 cameras is recommended for Linux users and fully compatible with USB2.0 host.

Mike here: I tried to use my old Meade LPI with my MacBook Pro. I had used it back in 2004 on my Mac (via Virtual PC; ). In 2005 I installed the native Mac OS X driver from the Sonix web site (discussed further down this page). It was the SN9C102p Series WebCam Driver OSX 1.01.0004. However, when I tried to install the driver under Mac OS 10.6.2 (Snow Leopard), the installer said the installation failed. Keith's AstroImager could not see the LPI. I tried using Meade's AutoStar Suite v5.5 (full version) in Parallels Desktop 4 (Windows XP). When I selected the LPI I would get an error message in Windows that said I needed to install some proper version of but it did not tell where to get that or what version I needed. So much for trying to use the LPI.
Pixinsight is astro-image processing software that came to the Mac in December, 2008. It is world-class software—as advanced as any astro-image processing application available to date. The interface is not very Mac-like, and the learning curve is made a bit steeper by the lack of documentation, but Pixinsight touts their forums as the source for help. Dr. Craig Stark, himself an author of excellent Mac imaging software (see Nebulosity and PHD Guider) has put a couple of Pixinsight video tutorials at . Also see Craig's blog at
