[April 8] Feeling Up for Fishing

[OOC: Open to anyone, up to three people I suppose?]

Royd gathered up his fishing equipment and headed out the dorm room. He made his way down and out of the building in the direction of Pangaea Pond, ready for what he hoped to be a great fishing expedition. He hoped he could meet someone else there to fish with him.

Soon, Royd got to the edge of the so-called pond and put down his stuff. It wasn't so much a pond as it seemed a lake. The vast waters made him a little homesick. Breathing in the cool, fresh air blown over the water, Royd put his things down and assembled his fishing rod. With that set up, he was almost ready to get started. Looking out around him, he surveyed the area, searching for a good spot.

Adriaan strolled through the campus, having no real idea where he was or where he was going. The joint he had just smoked in his room was to blame for this, as was the fact that he was plugged into his iPod. In a haze of marijuana and classical music screamo punk testosterone death-core, he was horrified to find himself at the edge of the pond.

Oh, the pond.
The pond he had been vehemently avoiding since he arrived on campus. A pond he feared loathed with the fury of...something furious.

He took a step and felt his shoe sink into the marsh. He may have screamed, just a little. Then he glanced around in a panic to make sure no one was there to hear it.

But...there was someone there. Damn.

Was that a scream he just heard? Looking around for the source, Royd stopped in his previous search to behold a tall man panicking by the edge of the pond, not too far from where he was standing.

Apprehensively, he strode up to the stranger, trying his best not somehow intimidate the fellow.

"Is there something wrong? Did something frighten you?" he asked.

Adriaan put on his best masculine face.
"Frighten me? Impossible!" he scoffed, while trying not to look guilty. "That sound was...a, um...bird."

That was logical, right? Birds did crazy shit like that all the time. Adriaan nodded determinedly, as if that would make it true, as he slowly backed away from the water.

Royd looked on doubtfully. He didn't see any birds around that could make such a human noise. But just to humor him, "If you say so. Oh! I forgot to introduce myself! My name is Royd Eiriksson, representative of Norway." This man in front of him was probably another nation too.

Okay, maybe the bird thing was a bad idea. But Adriaan wasn't a wildlife expert.
And the looming waters of death in front of him were affecting his judgment.

Nonetheless, he answered. "I am Adriaan van Dijk, representative of the Netherlands."

The Netherlands, huh? He didn't know that the Netherlands would be so wimpy easily surprised. No matter. Perhaps he would like to fish with him? It wouldn't hurt to ask.

"If you aren't too busy at the moment, would you care to help me fish? I'll make you something good to eat if we catch anything," Royd offered. It was pretty lonely here without the company of the Nords he usually hung out with.

Adriaan glared at the world. This first impression thing was failing horribly.

But then the whole water problem came up again.

"Oh. No, I'll just stay...back here."

[Royd Eiriksson]

He'd been hoping he would get some help, but alas, it was not to be. "Perhaps next time, then." Royd replied, sighing slightly. He didn't see what the issue was.

"If you can't stay to fish with me, perhaps you'd help me out in another way? I came here forgetting that the bait shop probably wouldn't be open so I don't have anything to catch the fish with. I was thinking I could find some worms in the mud or minnows in the water," said Royd, putting on his best pitiful look. After all, it was the least this Adriaan character could do.

"I saw a nice patch of mud earlier. Or maybe if you'd rather get wet over getting muddy, that area over there seems shallow enough," said Royd, gesturing towards a spot at the edge of the pond.

Oh, he just had to keep making things difficult, didn't he?


Adriaan tried not to blurt out too quickly as he said, "Oh!- No, I'll do the mud. No problem."

Royd gave him another strange look. He hoped he didn't offend Adriaan somehow.

"Um, okay then. I'll show you the spot," said Royd, striding over to a patch of mud several feet away from where they'd previously been.

"Mmmm yes. This looks good. Reminds me of the mud patches at home," said Royd, rolling up the sleeves of his silk blue shirt. He made sure to roll up his pants too.

"We're sure to find good bait here."

When faced with the mud patch, Adriaan realized that this was also going to be a huge problem.

He simply could not stand getting his clothes dirty. But he felt that in dirt versus water, dirt was the lesser of two evils. To be safe, he stripped off his shirt, folded it neatly, and lay it on a rock. Flexing his ridiculously masculine pectorals for good measure, he set to work.

Adriaan's tall stature and muscular build reminded him of Denmark... All the more reason to tease him. Besides the similarities, this fellow also seemed to be very interesting indeed. He looked forward to the future.

Thinking these thoughts, Royd continued his search for worms. Digging into the mud, he found a particularly large worm near the surface. This was a promising find. Royd mentally applauded himself for finding such a great area.

He plucked the bugger out of the mud only to realize that he'd forgotten to bring something to put the bait in. He thought for a moment, debating on what to do. He finally came to a decision and stuffed the huge worm into his pocket.

Adriaan was starting to think that maybe this wasn't so bad after all...and then he saw Royd stick a worm in his pocket. HIS POCKET. Adriaan would not stand for this tomfoolery.

"Whoa! What the hell? Don't do that! It's unsanitary!"

Hearing Adriaan's outburst, Royd looked up from pulling another bugger out of the ground.

"Hmmm? Is something the matter?" Royd asked. I mean, where else could he put the worms? Putting them on the ground would be counter-productive.
