Romano was standing inside a floral store, looking through all of the different choices. What kind of flowers did she like, anyways? He wracked through his memory, trying to remember her national flower. You could never go wrong with national flowers.

... Poppies! Right? Red ones, if he recalled correctly. Thankfully, they were pretty cheap, so he bought a bouquet of them, with some Queen Anne's Lace stuffed in there for variety.

Though his wallet was mournfully crying, Romano had a proud smirk on his face. Okay, maybe it was going a little far just to ask someone to a dance. But when it came to the pursuit of romance, he was never one to hold back! What kind of girl couldn't resist a charming young man with a beautiful bouquet?

He walked out of the store and strolled down the street with flowers in hand, planning to return to the campus. But when Romano caught sight of a jewelry store, he stopped short in front of the display window. Did she like jewelry, anyways? He couldn't recall her wearing anything too expensive, but you could never tell.

Adriaan walked strutted out of the jewelry store, where he had just successfully pimped out his wrist with a new watch. He had decided he deserved something nice, and he had all that money saved up to buy things which were apparently ILLEGAL here, so a watch seemed like the next best thing. Besides, this way he was sure to always be on time. Which is something everyone else needed to pay a little more attention to, by the way.

His admiration of his new man-accessory was interrupted by a most unpleasant sight standing outside of the store holding a bouquet.
Well, bouquet was a generous term. They looked like they'd been yanked from a back alley or something. Cheapskate.

"Buying those weeds for your boyfriend? How romantic."

Even though he was very offended by the asshole's general assholery, Romano couldn't help but be slightly amused by the irony in Netherlands calling his sister's national flower a 'weed'. He had always thought that the guy coddled the poor girl.

"T-They're not weeds, and they're not for a boy!!," he snapped back defensively, making sure that he made it clear that his displeasure stemmed from being in this douche's company. Then, with a smug undertone in his expression and words, he stated, "They're for a very pretty girl! In fact, you know her too. And not any of the little children that you pedophile on, you damn fucker."

"I am not a pedophile! It's only because of this country's ridiculous consent laws and statutory-"

His adamant self-defense rant came to a complete halt when he realized something. Something unpleasant. Unpleasant and infuriating. He put on his best Scary Man Face and glared daggers of rage at Romano.

"You'd better not be talking about who I think you're talking about, you little bitch."

Yes!! Romano finally got a burn in on the damn bastard. It was much too satisfying to see Netherlands get all riled up, even though... those biceps were sure gleaming and that glare might have been a little frightening. Just a little. And that wasn't why he was slowly backing up at the moment. It wasn't because he was afraid that he might get legitimately beaten up, nosiree.

But still, he couldn't help but grin with even more smugness as he replied, "Damn right! You can't stop me, asshole! I bet you're just jealous because you haven't found someone to ask yet! How sad."

While he could have defended himself with the fact that in good countries you don't need to ask to get the women you want, or point out that his sister had far too much sense to ever go out with such a pansy, he opted just to shove Romano in the chest.

Despite his glowering chiseled body, Adriaan was truly not a fighter. So the shove was kind of tentative and halfhearted. Perhaps he should have taken his shirt off first, but that seemed entirely too French for his liking.

With that utterly violent and relentless shove, Romano tumbled to the ground!! WHAT THE HELL?! WHAT WAS THAT FOR?! Totally uncalled for! Someone should really call a psychiatrist, because this bastard was going around beating up poor guys like himself!!

"What the fuck?! You asshole!!", Romano shouted at him, picking himself up trying to save any dignity that may have been left. "You don't have to get all fuckin' violent, dammit!"

Aww, the flowers were a little smushed. He checked them over and frowned.

"You messed up the flowers, bastard," he muttered, sniffling a little. What, no, he wasn't crying! That would be very unimpressive.

Adriaan man-chortled at the sight of Romano crying, while secretly giving thanks that the kid didn't try to retaliate. He had a lot of pent-up aggression, so there was no telling what could have happened.

With a shrug, he plucked the flowers out of Romano's hand and surveyed the damaged.
"Hm. It's almost an improvement."

He was NOT crying and he could prove that by showing that his eyes were perfectly dry!! ... After wiping them once with his sleeve. So not crying.

"What the hell? Improvement, my ass!" Romano crossed his arms and scowled up at Netherlands while trying not to shake in his shoes. "You're buying new ones, dammit!! Can't just ruin someone's present and then just look at it!!"

Romano was so obviously intimidated of the glowing hunk of manhood standing before him.
This cheered Adriaan up considerably.

"Buy new ones yourself. Knowing you, they were cheap."

[Belle Rousseau]

With a happy smile, Belle cheerfully waved at the clerk who had just helped her purchase her dress before leaving the boutique. She was in a very good mood when she discovered that she had made more than enough to splurge a little on her dress for the dance and that good mood was only extended further when she had some left over for shoes and accessories as well. There was something about a new, shiny, sparkly pair of earrings that could make any girls day.

Content with her purchases and life in general at the moment, she held firmly onto her bag and casually made her way down the street. It wasn't long before she noticed a couple of idiots making a scene in front of a flower shop. It seemed like a silly place to get into a quarrel and she wasn't going to let it ruin her good mood, figuring people would eventually come around and get them to break it up. She was about to walk away before a familiar voice hit her and, with a sudden and startling realization, saw that it was her idiots making the ruckus. There went her day.

With a sigh she set her frown and made her way across the street, calling out to both of them. "Why is it EVERY TIME I go out I run into you two making trouble?!"

Really, twice in one week is just ridiculous.

"They were not cheap, it--!!"

He heard a loud shout hit them from across the street, making him jump with shock. Whirling around to see who the offender is, his eyes immediately obtained a shiny sparkle to them when he realized that it was the sunshine of his life!!

"Belle, luce della mia vita!", Romano called out with a wave, any grumpiness in his voice completely gone. Sending a rather charming smile her way, he explained, "It's all his fault! He ruined the flowers that I got for--..." He stopped short, remembering just who he was getting the flowers for.

Shit. There went the surprise, dammit.

Hello, Romano, they were poppies. So obviously cheap.

While Adriaan was trying to figure out a manly way to phrase that, he was nearly blinded by the sparkles erupting from Romano's eyes. Which could only mean one thing. He could ignore all of the pathetic Italian babble and still know that his sister was nearby. Could that guy's heart be displayed any more prominently on his sleeve?

Turning around, he gave Belle a 'don't worry about it' wave.
"Not my fault, clearly. Pansy-ass here is just causing problems."

She rolled her eyes at Adriaan's wave, knowing all too well that he's probably just trying to avoid her getting on his ass again for something ridiculous. And if Romano was involved she knew it could explode if she didn't do something about it.

"That has yet to be seen," she started, giving her brother a skeptical look before turning to Romano, noticing the partially damaged flowers in his hand. A gift for a girl no doubt, his most prominent weakness.

Of course, Romano's swift and sudden mood change was completely lost on her, figuring he was just glad that there was someone around who could get the bigger man to back off of him so he could get away. "Flowers for who?" she started curiously, looking down at them and fixing one of the petals. "Do I know them?"

He was so stunned by Belle's presence that he didn't even notice Netherlands calling him a pansy-ass. In fact, he decided that it would be a fantastic idea to just blatantly ignore Netherlands. Romano thought it was a very mature decision on his part, indeed.

At Belle's question, Romano shuffled nervously, every bit the awkward schoolboy with a crush. "I, uh," he uttered helpfully. After a little more fidgeting, he managed to collect his thoughts and beamed a bright smile at her, and he noted, "Of course you know them! In fact, no one knows them quite as well as you do, bellisima!" At that, he winked.
