Ten Facts About Your Character:
- A child of two worlds, Belle is the daughter of a Dutch man and a French woman who, in the end, simply could not make things work. Though the two could not seem to peacefully keep things going, neither let it affect the love that they had for their daughter and since a very young age (as long as she can remember) she has found herself influenced strongly and equally by both. So much so that she can no longer remember if the first word from her mouth was Dutch or French.
Though both parents will swear to their dying breath that it was their own, respectively. - Putting it as simply as possible though, Belle comes from a home that is broken at best, divided in half by two very strong and separate families that just can't seem to mesh. But her affection for both sides has made it impossible to bring herself to choose one or the other and has personally accepted both, doing her best to be as true to the French in her as she is to the Dutch in her, choosing instead to be what her divided house can be if both sides were to accept the other and simply be Belgian.
- Though situations at home tend to end up being rather tense and awkward for her at the best of times, she manages to maintain a very cheerful and amiable disposition, choosing to surround herself with friends and enjoy the little, day to day things to distract herself from her troubles at home.
- Her situation at home has also honed her into a bit of a mediator as well, preferring a more neutral stand. Instead of blowing up and taking sides, she would rather try a diplomatic approach, letting each side of the imposing problem or situation have it's say before trying to work things out as calmly and civilly as possible.
- That being said, she does try to avoid any conflict at all costs, believing that she gets enough of it from home. But, if forced into a confrontational situation and cannot keep her neutral stand she will argue for what she truly believes in and is known for her stubbornness when she is on the defense.
- Though she may be the only girl of her siblings, having two brothers has toughened Belle up quite a bit. Pushed around a lot by her older brother in particular, it is easy to see why the two have struggled a bit with their relationship for much of their younger years. But in the end they are family and though they may be at odds sometimes she is very close with him.
- Though a friendly and bright young woman, Belle does not stand out much when surrounded by a crowd. Though she wouldn't exactly call herself passive, she doesn't believe there to be much to notice and simply isn't the type to draw unnecessary attention to herself if she doesn't have to.
- Though she has come to embrace two different cultures already, she can never quite seem to satisfy her urge to learn more. Being very open minded, she is always willing to learn something new and never too hesitant to try new things whether it be learning how to say hello in Mandarin, learning new American slang, listening to Turkish rock music or trying a Vietnamese dessert...she is always interested. At the moment she is taking German classes to help her with her fluency.
- Though she may get stepped on by others she finds it very silly and a waste of time to hold a grudge. Given her background she has learned a thing or two about patience and tolerance and have put both to practice with two of her close friends in particular, Antonio and Lovino. Though she and her brothers met both by accident and were bullied by the former for a short while, she has grown close to both, managing to find enough good qualities in both of them to let any animosity she had go completely and be friends.
- Even though she is more tolerant of others she does have a line, and nothing can bring her annoyance levels to that line faster than sheer idiocy. A classic tsukkomi, she will not hesitate to let her annoyance known and toss a well aimed smack to the back of the head of any idiot deserving of such a reprimand.
Unfortunately, she hangs out with idiots so this tends to happen a lot. - [ I got to eleven, holy hell! ] Though very active, Belle's favorite hobbies are cooking and baking, particularly sweets. She thoroughly enjoys cooking for other people and is always keeping an eye out for an interesting recipe or ingredient to try out in her own cuisine. Her favorite foods are chocolate and waffles and she has a notorious sweet tooth for anything with enough sugar. Of course, one can't eat junk and expect to keep their figure so Belle keeps herself active by partaking her her favorite physical activity...DANCING. She is one that finds it very hard to keep still if there is a good beat playing, never refuses a dance and figures that if she's going to keep herself active, she may as well have fun doing it.
A secret he/she wouldn't want anyone to learn about: Though she is very proud of who and what she is, in the back of her mind she can't help but consider herself a country only in name, feeling that that all too important sense of unity that keeps countries strong is very weak within her own boundaries and she is truly scared of the future and what might happen to her if she cannot manage to pull things together.
Favorite Color: Green. Though she likes red as well.
Anything else?: I know that Belgium is only really HALF a character as there isn't much known about her but I will do my best to be true to anything and everything posted about her. The rest is my own headcanon based off of history and such. But if anyone has any suggestions feel free to bring it up with me! Working on her characterization and headcanon is something I love to do. 8)
