Human Name: Alfred F. Jones
Country: America (f@%# yeah!)
Primary Language: American!
Gender: Male
Age: 19
Current School Year: Freshman/1st year
Birthday: July 4th
Occupation: Full time HERO, part time student (but really full time student too, it just sounds cooler that way).
Ten Facts About Your Character:
- Alfred grew up heavily influenced by Arthur, aka England. This was fine for a while and worked well for them both because Alfred was just getting on his own two feet, but as Alfred grew up, he began to see Arthur as a little too controlling and rebelled against his leadership when he started high school. The two still talk, but things have been a little rough and bitter since then. Alfred appreciates Arthur, though. Deep down.
- Ever since his rebellion against Arthur's leadership, Alfred has been kind of obsessed over being a hero. Anyone strong enough to give the finger to the Man and throw Arthur's tea bags into the boys' room toilet at school is strong enough for ANYTHING and can stand up to ANYONE. Or so he thinks.
- Alfred's a bit full of himself. He has trouble seeing past what's right in front of him, and gets too tangled up in his own issues to care too much about other peoples'. He'll always be surprised when someone doesn't agree with him and can stubbornly argue about any subject he feels strongly about.
- Alfred is a fast food addict. His favorite restaurant is McDonald's, and every visit there will result in him ordering a massive amount of food that no one would believe a skinny 19-year-old kid could eat all on his own, and yet... he manages to. And he's never gained that much weight from doing so, either, though sometimes he gets self-conscious if his weight goes up by a few pounds.
- Alfred has a love-hate relationship with scary movies. On one hand, if he can stand to watch them all the way through without covering his eyes or pissing his pants, he's proven yet again that he's brave and worthy of being called a hero! On the other hand, he refuses to watch them alone and panics over even mildly scary scenes. Japan is a frequent victim of Alfred's hey-let's-watch-a-movie-together moods.
- But Alfred loves action movies, especially ones including aliens! And explosions. And heroes saving the day! In spaceships. He's not scared of movie aliens no matter how gross or frightening they may appear, which seems odd when you consider his reactions to ghosts in horror films. But he'll just shrug off this observation with, "But aliens don't REALLY look like that!" As if he's actually seen real aliens (and he has, really).
- Alfred loves democracy. He cannot see why any other system of government could possibly make sense. Communism? Is evil. It undermines free will, individuality, and the capitalistic system that was so pivotal to his nation's success! Monarchies? Are silly. What's the use of a King or Queen being born into ruling a country? They're just as likely to tax the crap out of their people just to build themselves a solid gold toilet for their solid gold bathroom as not. No, no, you're supposed to have your people elect their representatives so they'll have a say in how the country is run. Freedom and free speech and no golden toilets unless you EARN them! That's the American way.
- Alfred likes being in charge. This is fitting, seeing as he's going to be the nation that is #1 in the free world! Whatever he does, he's got to be in charge. He wants to be captain of the football team (the AMERICAN football team, any other kind of football doesn't exist), president of the student council, president of a fraternity, a resident adviser (RA), etc, and he wants to make sure everything is done democratically in each of these organizations! He wants everything to be fair and just and free but he also wants to order everyone around like no one's business. If you notice that his desires conflict, you're right, they do. Just don't tell him that, because he's not going to believe you.
- Alfred is the type to barge in when he's not wanted. He'll knock once and if you don't open the door within one millisecond, he'll push the door open anyway, too bad, what he's got to say to you is IMPORTANT, more important than you getting your pants on or keeping your dignity. In short, he's a bit rude! And also clueless as to when he's breaking a boundary. He'll also not think twice about taking advantage - oh, you said he could help himself to some of your potato chips? Don't mind him as he pours the entire bag into his gaping mouth! Why are you looking at him like that?
- Despite all of this, in the end Alfred is actually pretty innocent and sheltered. It's only recently that he's broken away from Arthur's influence and it took a long time for him to find himself and break free of his isolationist ways. Sure, now he can kick the ass of almost anyone, but that wasn't always so. He can be really naive to how the world works, but in the end he's hopeful and optimistic that someday, everyone will get along, eat Lit’l Smokies Cocktail Links out by the campfire, sing Kumbaya, and put their nuclear weapons aside (even if he keeps most of his... just in case).
A secret he/she wouldn't want anyone to learn about: Alfred's had to go through a lot in the past, and he wasn't always as tolerant as he is today. But even today, he has his prejudices, though he tries very hard to conceal them. It would be embarrassing if anyone found out, he's supposed to be accepting of the fact that all men (and women!) are created equal, but unfortunately that isn't always the case.
Favorite Color: Red or blue, not really white so much since white is boring but it compliments red and blue very nicely regardless!
Anything else?: My Hetalia canon knowledge is a little rusty. Plus I can't even remember the last time I RP'd using a message board. My first order of business if I get accepted is going to be to put up a HMD for that very reason, so please feel free to use that or PM me if something I might do doesn't jive with you. That said, I look forward to playing with everyone! Oh, and if/when we get a Canada, it'd be cool if we could do the whole brother or maybe half-brother dealio (if you want!).
