Ten Facts About Your Character:
- As a child, Kiku looked up to Yao. He was extremely eager to learn about everything from him and modeled himself heavily after Yao. Eventually, it reached a point where he began to become tired of his ways and tried to pull away from the influence, working towards making himself as distinct as possible, picking out only bits and pieces which he wanted to retain.
- He personally considers himself a loner with no family to speak of, but the truth is, he has a close network of over fifty "cousins" all of whom rely on Kiku and vice versa.
- Choosing not to allow himself to follow in Yao's footsteps, he instead allowed himself to be influenced by Zen Buddhism, strengthening his love for harmony with nature, and blended it with his practice of Shinto. He's extremely fond of traditional hobbies dealing with this, like tea ceremonies, flower arranging, and ink paintings.
- For a good chunk of his childhood, he dropped out and became a hikikomori, dedicating himself to sitting in front of the computer and lurking 2ch. It was during this time that he picked up a few animanga-related hobbies. During this time, he refused to leave the safety of his room and the only person he had contact with (outside of his "cousins") was Netherlands.
- After pulling himself out of his isolation, he threw himself head-first into trying to reassimilate into society and took great interest in other countries' culture, trying his best to "catch up" with everybody else, in a sense. He finds everyone else fascinating due to being so sheltered.
- He is polite to all, no matter what grievances he may have against you, choosing instead to swallow down complaints and dislikes. In general, he does not voice his thoughts often, instead always offering short answers with neutral opinions. This makes it extremely difficult for people to get to know him and Kiku has issues working out of this particular frame of mind. (Only in very rare situations where he comes into contact with alcohol or he is with someone very close does he have no problem saying what is on his mind.)
- Due to his previous withdrawal from society, Kiku still shows many signs of being uncomfortable in people’s company, but he is slowly working towards being more accepting of his surroundings. Though he seems to be a calm and collected individual, he can get flustered quite easily. He’s not fond of physical touch, especially not hugs, and will likely respond negatively depending on how forward the action was.
- He oftens complains about the woes of aging and likes to refer to himself as an old man. There is some truth in this as he's much older than anyone else in his year, but even then, he still looks rather young.
- Kiku finds himself slipping into Japanese more often than not, the level of politeness simply untranslatable into English, and still uses honorifics.
- He is never without his trusty camera to capture the more… interesting moments in life. Kiku also tends to take many pictures when he's visiting a new place.
- Kiku has never dropped the habit of wearing traditional clothes, opting for kimonos and yukatas when by himself in his apartment. At school and in public, he dresses plainly as to not stand out. On Sundays, he dresses in an outrageous fashion. You're better off not knowing.
A secret he/she wouldn't want anyone to learn about: Kiku cosplays in his spare time, uploading pictures to Cure only once he’s confident no one will recognize him with the help of makeup and Photoshop. He's also a doujinshi artist and has a website for his ~scandalous~ art, most of which are based on his friends. If you haven't figured it out, he's a huge otaku. 2D forever, 3D is pig disgusting.
