- In short, Gilbert is a hooligan, a thoroughbred hooligan—not to quote his official character bio but quite simply, it's the only word that fits him.
- Gilbert's humble beginnings are a little vague, a little mysterious, and entirely exaggerated if you're asking him personally. Generally speaking, he had two parents who probably loved him very much, showed him how to be a good person, a good nation even, and then disappeared from his life. Gilbert won't tell you much else, but he will tell you that he was damn adorable when he was a kid.
- In addition to being well-brought up, Gilbert was also rather religious. Still is, in fact. But lately, he's been concentrating more and more on kicking ass than confessing his sins. After all, he believes he's more than awesome enough to get into heaven anyway...
- At the very core, Gilbert is a fighter. Why does he fight, you might ask? Prussia, according to the history textbooks, was a very militaristic German state, so this trait suits him particularly well. The other answer is because that's all he knows how to do. He fights to survive, fights to get what he wants, and he doesn't care how he does it, whether anybody dies or not in the end. And hey, he's good at it too because once upon a time, he was a thriving European empire—he unified the German states. If that doesn't say anything about him, then I don't know what else does.
- Anyway, it's pretty obvious that Gilbert enjoys starting fights, mostly at the expense of something he says because quite frankly, it's his way or the highway. He doesn't sugar coat his words, and that often pisses people off. Yet, he doesn't start fights with just anyone because while he occasionally lacks common sense—eating England's cooking, anyone?—he won't pick a fight he knows he won't win because defeat, in his opinion, is the last thing he wants.
- Besides being a war monger, he's incredibly loyal and obedient, particularly to his leaders and especially Frederick II or Old Fritz as he affectionately refers to him as in the comics.
- He's also terribly over-confident and pretends not to fear anything, preferring to take things head on as they come at him.
- He's prideful, genuinely. But he tends to get lonely and cries to himself. He'll try to put up a great front and fail miserably. If anyone spots him, he'll likely try to cover it up and deny that he's been crying out of loneliness.
- Strangely enough, Gilbert likes cute things, i.e. the little chick that sits atop his head and/or his shoulder, in addition to the pandas he foolishly buys from China and Hong Kong, despite saying that he'd never buy them from him.
- He enjoys eating pancakes, as evidenced by the April Fools '09 event when he took over Hidekaz's site for the day. Besides maintaining a very close relationship with his brother, Ludwig (Germany), it seems that he's very friendly with Feliciano (Italy).
- Gilbert's favorite word is "awesome," which he uses in reference to himself all the time. He makes sure you know it too.
- He chronicles his adventures of his awesome self in a diary that he's kept for several hundred years.
- Lastly, Gilbert is rather anti-social, but he will align himself with others if it benefits him in the end. However, he spends a lot of his time taunting others, specifically Roderich (Austria).
A secret he/she wouldn't want anyone to learn about: In his spare time, meaning when he's not harassing people, skipping class, getting drunk and/or causing all sorts of mischief and mayhem, Gilbert plays World of Warcraft, otherwise known as WoW.
Favorite Color: Black, but he's a fan of blood red too.
Anything else?: I tend to throw in random German whenever I play Gilbert; not only for the practice of using it but because I think it adds flavor to the character, and I'm a huge language geek to boot. Also, if and when a Germany player shows up, we'll have to collaborate on their history together because I'm not going to put down anything about his brother for now.
